You can configure sessions to be streamed live, simulive, or on-demand. Choose from several options based on the features and capabilities that you need for your event. Some options are built-in to the EventHub platform, whereas others require external tools. This article reviews the video streaming options and includes details about each one.
For details on how to use external tools, please refer to the documentation provided by the respective platform.
1. Video Types and Compatible Streaming Tools
When creating a new video streaming channel in the [Video streaming] tab, you must select a [Video type]. This option determines the streaming formats and tools that you can use for this channel.
The following table outlines each video type's available streaming formats and tools.
Video Type | Streaming Format | Streaming Tool | Features and Considerations |
YouTube | - Live - On-demand |
YouTube | - A common and familiar platform - Not ideal for hidden video content (e.g., for private or paid events) - Strict copyright laws may delist videos with applicable background music, images, etc. - Ads may play on the videos, even if not monetized. - Also works with the EventHub [Archive videos] function |

Simulive | - Simulive | Built into EventHub | - Pre-recorded video content is uploaded to the EventHub platform and streamed to the Event Page at a specific time as if it were live (viewers cannot rewind or skip ahead). - Reduces strain on production teams and hosts, especially on the day of the event - Reduces risk of technical issues - Reduces labor hours per event - See the following article for more information: Simulive Streaming |
<tips>The "Live Streaming (Whereby)" option does not require an account to live stream, whereas the Whereby option for "RTMP Streaming" does require an account. As both of these options are functionally the same, we recommend the "Live Streaming (Whereby)" option because of its simplified setup.</tips>
